Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town situated on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's Island. In reality, the West Island, to those who don't know about it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine to the west. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, the time she spent there was short. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice near Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to be a professional dancer. However, the rapid growth of her body led to she grew beyond her dance partners. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. Once I had outgrown my males in my group, I decided to quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting and Brugel was not an exception. Drama teacher at her high school encouraged her in the direction she wanted to go in. Her teacher advised her to audition for a part in the school's production. Following a trial, she ended up as the lead on stage in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the last twenty years her career has seen her appearing in a variety of films and television productions. Her most famous role was Rita (shown in the video below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during the season 1 of the series. She was she was only seen on occasion.
